About this place
The fish katsu, fried rare, is available with choices such as red sea bream, horse mackerel and greater amberjack. The idea is to lightly fry fish that can also be eaten as sashimi, with a choice of coarsely grated daikon and yuzu-kosho ponzu or wasabi mayonnaise. Diners can choose both the fish and the sauce, making it an appealing option whether you have a particular combination in mind or want to try different pairings with a group.
Another dish to look out for is sesame tofu with sea urchin, which reviewers have also recommended. The seven-course omakase includes fruit, as well as the sesame tofu and a vinegared dish. For a shorter meal, there is also a five-course mini omakase, served with fruit. These set menus suit an evening when you would rather leave the selection to the chef, or a meal where you want the courses to unfold without choosing each dish individually.
Kamata kappo restaurant Asō is in the Dai-6 Daigo Building, on Nishikamata 7-chome, on the 2 floor. Reservations are recommended for dinner. The restaurant also offers seasonal and rare sake by the glass, giving you the option of choosing a drink to go with the fish dishes.
